Miniature:
Pietro de Crescenzi: Livre des Prouffis Champestres et Ruraux, Prologue -- Charles the Wise (Charles V), crowned, seated on canopied throne, receives book with clasps from translator, wearing academic garments, kneeling. Several courtiers, including some with daggers or swords at waist, look on.
Scene within room decorated with patterned hanging. In rear wall, archway opens to view of landscape in which are buildings. Inscription above archway reads CHARLES ROY DE FRANCE. Beside it is inscription in later hand V DIST LE SAIGE.
Margins:
Foliate border frames miniature and text. Right border inhabited by lion with kerchief tied around neck.
