Christ: questioning Apostles and Peter -- Christ, unnimbed, gesturing, stands flanked by twelve Apostles, nimbed, gesturing, one with staff.
In background at left, Christ, standing, gestures toward crowd of Apostles, nimbed, and other people, some wearing hats, two with staves, before city with river, boat, and landscape with trees and mountains. At right, group of men, wearing hats, stand amid rocks.
In margins, flowers, including iris, daisy, strawberry, thistle, and pansy, and insects, including butterflies and flies. In lower margin, Arms of Johann II von Oettingen (vair or and gules, en surcoat azure, surmounted of a saltier argent; shield ensigned with nobleman's helmet or and azure; crest, a hound's head erased or, on his left ear an escutcheon gules, surmounted of a saltier or), his monogram (IH), motto (Ou que ie soye), and loveknot with initials (JY).
