Miniature, column:
1) Gregory the Great: Scene, celebrating Mass -- Gregory the Great, tonsured, wearing priest's vestments, kneels with hands raised before draped altar on which is open book with pseudo-inscriptions and chalice. Flanking him are two acolytes, both tonsured, wearing vestments, holding lighted candles and kneeling. All before Christ as three quarter figure in rayed aureole, showing wounds, wearing short loin cloth, standing in possibly sarcophagus.
In foreground right, pope, wearing vestments and carrying triple crossed staff, followed by acolyte carrying papal tiara.
Scene in church with decorative moldings and draped floor.
