Evangelist, John: Scene, on Patmos -- John, nimbed, turning head to look at pen held in right hand, sits with scroll with pseudo-inscription in his lap. Beside him stands eagle (Evangelist Symbol). Scene in landscape on island. Miniature flanked by columns.
Margins with vinescroll and foliate ornament in diagonal bands. Margins inhabited by bird; monkey, seated astride fantastic animal, holding the animal's tongue in its forepaws; and snail.
