Gregory the Great: Scene, celebrating Mass -- Tonsured cleric, kneeling, holds triple crown tiara behind Gregory, nimbed, tonsured, wearing priest's vestments, kneeling with joined hands raised, before draped altar, between curtains, upon which are two candle sticks, draped chalice, and open book with pseudo-inscription. Behind the altar is Christ, as man of sorrows, cross-nimbed, wearing crown of thorns, bleeding from wounds, in loin cloth, standing in sarcophagus. Behind him is curtain, upon which are instruments of passion, including cords, column, cross, ladder, and dice. Scene in room with four windows.
