Month, Occupation: January -- Two men wearing hats, and two women wearing headdresses sit around table draped with green cloth. One man sits on faldstool, in front of firescreen; one woman sits on chair. Each holds playing cards in their hands. Playing cards, lid and container, and coins (?) are on the table. At left is fireplace with andirons; dog wearing collar reclines in front of the fire. At right, toddler, wearing cap, rides hobbyhorse and is followed by small dog. Along wall in background is bench with pillows; book is on bench. At right figure, holding hat (?) stands behind door.
