Miniature in two registers:
1) Divina Commedia, Inferno: Scene, Three Beasts -- Dante, wearing cap, at base of mountain, representing wisdom and virtue, is turned back by wolf, representing avarice, leopard, representing lust, and lion, representing pride, all on the mountain. To right are trees and above is arc of heaven enclosing moon and sun.
2) Divina Commedia, Inferno: Scene, Virgil appears -- Virgil stands at left beside trees. Dante, at right, flees from mountain. In center, Virgil, represented again, addresses Dante, represented again, wearing cap, kneeling before him.
