Miniature: Christ: Betrayal and Arrest and Apostle, Peter: cutting off Ear of Malchus -- Judas, holding sack with right hand kisses right cheek of Christ, rays as cross nimbus, eyes closed, surrounded by soldiers. Two grasp His hair, one His left shoulder, and another His mantle. Soldiers wear helmets and armor, one with sword at waist; two hold lanterns, eight hold spears or halberds. Most, only helmet is visible. With extended right hand, Christ holds severed ear of Malchus, wearing cap, right side of head bleeding, seated next to lantern at feet of Christ. At left, Peter replaces sword into sheath. Buildings are in background. Margins: 1) Christ: in Gethsemane -- In upper margin, three apostles, nimbed, sit on ground asleep at left. At right, angel extends chalice with both hands toward extended hands of Christ, rays as cross nimbus, kneeling. 2) Christ: confounding Soldiers -- In right margin, Christ, rays as cross nimbus, raising both hands, stands before several soldiers reclining on ground, one holding sword, three holding spears, most only tops of helmets visible. 3) Christ: led to Caiaphas (?) -- In lower margin, Christ, rays as cross nimbus, is flanked by two soldiers wearing helmets and armor. One raises right hand to head of Christ, and holds with left hand rod or club at back of Christ. The other, raises right hand as fist, grasping with left hand, end of rope binding hands of Christ. All are surrounded by more soldiers, some carrying spears, sword, shields (one with human face), or halberd. One wears knotted headgear. Most only tops of helmets visible. 4) Christ: Betrayal, Young Man fleeing -- In lower left margin, one of two soldiers grasps garment of man, garment falling from nude body. Above are several apostles, nimbed, two looking toward miniature.
