Divina Commedia, Purgatorio: Scene, Dante immersed in Lethe -- Dante, wearing hat, bends forward over river Lethe. His head is grasped by Beatrice, veiled, standing on opposite bank. To right, Beatrice, veiled, stands beside Dante, greeted by her handmaids (Personifications of Virtues ?), wearing wreaths of flowers. Scene in Garden of Eden with flowers and trees.
