Julius Caesar: Scene, Conquest of Gaul, Vercingetorix taking counsel -- Among seven men, some bearded, all wearing brimmed hats, some pointed or conical, two face each other in conversation, including Roman counselor, Vercingetorix. Scene in grassy landscape and trees, against gold sky. Figures painted in grisaille. Decorated with ivy-rinceaux and floreate ornament in border above and below left column, including daisies and strawberries, miniature within gold frame. Initial U of Uercingetoriex decorated with foliate and floreate ornament. Miniature for Chapter 933 of Faits de Romains.
