Livres des Merveilles du Monde: Scene, Campania -- To left, statue of nude male plays trumpet above entrance to cave out of which emerges man with sack slung over right shoulder. In center, flames issue from volcano with pools of water on sides, beside fields of grain. In foreground, man, wearing hat, partly kneels and extends hands to bean plants. To right, crenellated entrance of city of Naples with arched gate flanked by two towers to which are affixed two statues, to left is elderly woman, wearing veil, gesturing, and to right is youthful woman, wearing headdress. To far right, swarm of flies fly above group of four men on shore of river, one man with barrell pours oil into the water; another man stands on shore.
