Two scenes within miniature:
1) Hippolytus the Jailer: before Decius -- Within architectural setting, Hippolytus, nimbed, is flanked by two men placing garment on him. Another man raises club above head. Decius, crowned, holding scepter in right hand, and another man look on.
2) Hippolytus the Jailer: Martyrdom -- Outside of architectural setting, Decius (represented twice), crowned, holding scepter in left hand, surrounded by four men, including one with sword and scabbard, look on as Hippolytus (represented twice), nimbed, hands bound, is dragged by two horses with ropes attached to his feet. Man raises whip above hindquarters of one horse.
