Christ: Ecce Homo -- On balcony (?) Pilate, wearing hat, holding scepter with left hand, gestures with both hands toward Christ, crossed nimbus, arms behind Him. Pilate looks toward crowd of figures, one wearing hat, four with mouths open, most raising hands. Soldiers, wearing armor and helmets, one holding halberd, five holding spears stand behind Christ; next to Him are five youth, one with nude hindquarters, all raising arms. Above, Pilate is flanked by five men (?), one with cloth over right shoulder, holding pitcher with right hand, and basin with draped left hand. At far right is woman, veiled, possibly wife of Pilate. Text of John 18:37-40 , for Christ before Pilate, is on fol. 26v.
