Legend, Hercules: Hercules wrestling with Antaeus -- Hercules, wearing helmet, embraces and lifts (?) giant Antaeus, with his right hand extended. Scene in grassy landscape with rocks and trees in background. Figures painted in grisaille. Margins decorated with floreate and foliate border above and below left column, miniature within gold frame. Illustration of Book 4, History of the Greeks and Amazons. Initial A of Apres decorated with heraldry of the Créquy family (or, wild plum gules).
