Skelton as personification of death, draped in shroud, plays bagpipe, seated on edge of sarcophagus opposite two serpents (snakes). Lid of the sarcophagus is in foreground next to bones and skull.
All enclosed within initial C decorated with vine scroll and foliate ornament on gold ground.
