Christ: before Pilate -- Christ, rays as cross nimbus, back-turned, is flanked by two soldiers, one wearing sword at waist. They stand before Pilate, wearing hat, raising right hand, sitting on throne with canopy. Three men wearing hats stand at front of large crowd of soldiers, most only tops of helmets visible, some holding spears. In background, wall decorated with pairs of lancets. Text below miniature is beginning of Short Hours of the Cross, Prime.
