Julius Caesar: Scene, Conquest of Gaul, Siege of Gergovia -- Outside city wall of Clermont, among six helmeted soldiers and men, one wearing brimmed hat, one raises sword, one raises halberd and one pierces back of soldier who bleeds from wound, one aims arrow in bow and one hold bannered lance. Scene on path in grassy landscape with trees. Figures painted in grisaille. Decorated with ivy-rinceaux and floreate ornament in border above and below center margin, including daisies and strawberries, miniature within gold frame. Initial D of Dune decorated with foliate and floreate ornament. Miniature for Chapter 938 of Faits des Romains.
