Barbara of Nicomedia, nimbed, seated on ground, reading from open book with pseudo-inscriptions held in lap, at her feet is sleeping dog.
Scene in grassy landscape before low brick wall and behind which on water are two swans swimming, the water surrounding buildings, one large crenellated tower on which are scaffolds and pulley (Scene, Occupational: Building), and other buildings in distance.
Miniature within arched gold frame decorated with knotted interlace for beginning of Suffrage to Barbara of Nicomedia.
Margins decorated with floreate and foliate decoration, including daisies and grapes, and inhabited by centaur, wearing cap (left) and seated lion (lower).
