Virgin Mary: Espousal -- High priest, wearing bishop’s miter and gold morse, raises right hand in blessing and with left hand joins right hand of Joseph the Carpenter, bearded, with purse at waist, holding flowering rod in left hand, and right hand of Virgin Mary, nimbed, with fold of garment in left hand, all flanked by group of seven (?) suitors, six holding rods, and by group six women, one wearing headdress. Scene in temple interior with blind tracery and sculpture on wall, arched doorway and tiled floor. Miniature and text within architectural frame of two columns supporting pediment. Illustration at end of Prayer to the Virgin Mary and Evangelist John, O intemerata, and at beginning of Matins of Hours of the Virgin, which follows on the verso of the same folio.
