Adrian of Nicomedia: Martyrdom -- Within courtyard, two men stand beside Natalia of Nicomedia, nimbed. She grasps shoulder of Adrian of Nicomedia, nimbed, right arm and feet cut off and lying on floor beside him. He kneels before chopping block on which is his left arm. Executioner, grasping his arm, raises axe. Maximianus I, crowned, holding scepter in left hand, with three men, points with right hand toward Nicomedia.
In foreground, dog licks blood on floor.
In background, interior of building, with credenza surmounted by vessels, is visible through doorway. From one of two windows, two men look out.
Landscape is visible beyond gate of courtyard.
