Christ: bearing Cross -- Christ, cross-nimbed, wearing lavender garment, carrying on left shoulder green cross supported behind with right hand by Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, with left hand raised, and by Simon of Cyrene, proceeding to right.
Scene against gold diapered background, within initial D with foliate ascender of animal hybrid, within diapered panel, within architectural frame of trefoil arches of double gables with finials and pinnacles.
Beginning of first versicle of Sext of Long Hours of the Cross / Hours of the Passion.
Initial F decorated with foliage, at beginning of Hymn, Flecte ramos arbor.
Margins decorated with foliate stems, balls, and bottom bar of scrolling foliage.
Margin, left, inhabited by youth dancing, and by female donor (donee ?), wearing snood with fillet, kneeling with joined hands raised in prayer, on foliate stem.
Margin, lower, inhabited by hybrid bird, woman reclining, and seated man holding yarn winder; below, head of veiled woman on foliate tendril, and hybrid bird with beak curved around its body.
