Beginning of I Kings.
Solomon: Judgment -- Solomon, wearing crown, seated in throne with left leg over right knee, raises right forefinger and has left hand on left knee. At right is soldier, wearing armor, holding sword in right hand to strike infant (heads and shoulders only visible). In front of the soldier kneels woman, veiled, with joined hands raised, and behind him stands second woman, veiled, with left hands raised. Scene in decorated initial E.
In left margin are two half-figures, one with wings. In right margin is soldier, wearing armor, holding crossbow in both hands. In lower margin dog pursues rabbit.
