Initial A enclosing:
1) Antiquitates Judaicae: Scene, Aristobulus II fighting Hyrcanus II -- In upper register, two confronted armies of mounted soldiers, wearing mail, some holding lances and shields.
2) Antiquitates Judaicae: Scene, Hyrcanus II taken Prisoner -- In lower left register, three soldiers wearing mail stand before Hyrcanus II, wearing conical tiara and vestments. The foremost soldier grasps hands of Hyrcanus and places his left hand on right shoulder of Hyrcanus.
3) Antiquitates Judaicae: Scene, Hyrcanus II tortured -- In lower right register, Hyrcanus II, wearing conical tiara and vestments, hands on breast, stands flanked by four soldiers wearing mail. The two closest soldiers each hold knife to ear of Hyrcanus II.
Initial decorated with winged fantastic animal with human head.
