Column, left: Christ: bearing Cross -- Christ, cross-nimbed, supporting on right shoulder cross, also grasped in veiled hands of Virgin Mary behind Him, is accompanied by Evangelist John and possibly Holy Woman (only nimbus visible); all emerging from city gate of Jerusalem. He is led by rope tied to His waist, held in left hand of soldier, beside three men, wearing hats, Illustration for Third Nocturn in Matins for Good Friday. Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration inhabited by half figures of two prophets, wearing hats, emerging from clouds, both holding scrolls possibly inscribed IBI ABSCONDITA EST ... and ANTIPHON FACIENS ET IBIT MOR... (largely illegible) (left).
