David: cherished by Abishag -- David, nimbed and crowned, reclines, under blanket, looking up at Abishag, standing next to him with both hands on the blanket. One of two other figures, men or women, touches Abishag's head and neck, and the other rests both hands on Abishag's back.
Scene within initial E decorated with foliate ornament and with foliate extender.
Margin:
Gold balls and foliate bar, inhabited by fish, and terminating in foliate medallion enclosing beaver.
Beginning of I Kings (Vulg., III Kings).
