Jean Froissart: Chroniques, Book I, Chapter 186 -- Group of Parisians, wearing tunics and helmets, including some carrying mace, pick-axe and another weapon, face English soldiers in full armor, attacking with spears.
Text describes battle of Porte Saint-HonorĀ³b of Paris in summer of 1358.
