David: communicating with God -- David, nimbed and crowned, with joined hands raised, wearing shield on cord over left shoulder, and with scimitar in sheath at waist, kneels looking up toward bust of God, nimbed, in rayed arc of Heaven. Harp is on ground before David.
Scene in landscape with wall, and city in background beyond the wall.
Margins decorated with border of floreate ornament including thistle and strawberry, and inhabited by bird and by monkey, holding club with both hands astride fantastic animal (Scene, Burlesque: Riding).
