Enclosed in initial S, bust of bishop, wearing miter, right hand holding book, extended into center margin . Margins decorated with foliate ornament and gold balls; in center margin, man, wearing tall, feather-like headgear, both hands raised, looking toward lesson eight of previous day. Pen flourished initials. Text is first lesson, first nocturn for Matins on feast of Sylvester of Rome.
