Christ: bearing Cross -- Christ, nimbed, wearing crown of thorns, carries tau cross on left shoulder. Veronica, nimbed and veiled, kneels before Him, holding cloth with both hands. Next to Him is soldier raising club in right hand; another soldier at right holds banner. Scene is within initial D composed of white foliate ornament.
Margins decorated with border of floreate and foliate ornament including thistle, speedwell, viola, white vine scroll and strawberry, and inhabited by monkey, seated holding swaddled infant monkey (Scene, Burlesque).
