Christ: bearing Cross -- Christ, bleeding from crown of thorns, carries tau-cross over left shoulder, led with rope around His waist by gloved right hand of soldier, wearing helmet and armor; He looks back over his right shoulder toward Virgin Mary, veiled, with Her hands clasped, beside Mary Magdalen in red garment.
In background, crowd of soldiers, wearing helmets, hold weapons, including swords and spears; three crosses on hill in background.
Decorated initial D of Domine written on scroll above two skulls and bones of skeleton; for incipit beginning the Short Hours of the Cross.
Miniature enclosed in architectural frame, enclosing two standing figures, possibly prophets, in architectural niches.
