Christ: before Pilate -- Five men, three wearing hats, one with hat over shoulder, watch or serve, holding basin or cloth, or pouring as Pilate, wearing heat, seated on throne, washes his hands. He looks toward man, holding whip in left hand, and beard of Christ with right hand. Around his waist is girdle attached to rope binding crossed hands of Christ, cross nimbed, wearing crown of thorns, bottom of His robe held by man standing behind with group of men, most wearing hats, one wearing hood, some holding spears, some bannered. Scene in windowed room with niches and other architectural detail, and tiled floor. Visible through one window, one man holds ax or adze over wood on ground, and three others carry another piece of wood; through the other window, in another room, stand five men, three wearing hats, one wearing hood, one holding object in raised in left hand.
Miniature within arched frame.
Margins decorated with floreate and foliate ornament, including large branches, strawberry, dianthus and columbine, and inhabited by grasshopper, snail, and birds.
