Evangelist Mark, nimbed, wearing hat, seated, points with right hand to text of open book on lap and with left hand turns page of second book on lectern, attached to column with three putti standing on capital. Evangelist symbol (lion) with two putti on his back, lies on floor, facing third putto, holding staff. Figure is in anteroom of bedchamber. Window in anteroom opens to view of landscape with buildings in the distance.
Frame:
Miniature within elaborate architectural frame decorated with floral ornament and inhabited by putti, some holding swags of floral ornament. At base, two putti hold scroll inscribed with rubric and incipit of Gospel Sequence of Mark.
