In decorated initial C is Evangelist Matthew, nimbed, holding stylus in raised right hand, seated at desk, upon which is open book with pseudo-inscription. Beside him is his symbol (angel), holding open book with pseudo-inscription in both hands.
Left margin is decorated with floreate border.
