Benedict of Montecassino: Scene, with Disciples -- Among seven men, three wearing hats, three kneel with joined hands raised before Benedict of Montecassino, nimbed, wearing surplice over hooded monk’s habit, raising both hands and standing before mouth of cave, accompanied by five men (two with only heads visible). Scene in hilly landscape with dog, two animals in cave, and trees and bushes, cross-surmounted church in background. Miniature within frame at end of Chapter 2 of Book II of Dialogues; Men abandon the world to become disciples of Benedict of Montecassino.
