Legend, Aeneid: Battle -- Among four helmeted soldiers, the foremost soldier holds lance in right hand and pierces neck of fallen soldier, bleeding from wounds, one soldier raises sword above head, aimed toward other fallen soldier, bleeding from wound in head, at least three other soldiers are departing to right. Scene in grassy and hilly landscape, against gold sky. Figures painted in grisaille. Margins decorated with floreate and foliate border above and below right column, miniature within gold frame. Illustration of Book 6, History of Aeneas. Initial E of Endementiers decorated with floreate and foliate ornament.
