Upper half: Moses: Spies of Canaan -- At left, two men wearing hats, support pole on left shoulders, from which hangs bunch of grapes. Scene inscribed DIE FRUCHT AUZ DEM GEHAIZZEY LAND. From chapter 13 of Numbers. Moses: murmured against -- Two confronted groups of men, one wearing hat, foremost two gesturing with both hands. Moses: Death of Spies of Canaan -- Five soldiers, wearing helmets and armor, two raising hands to shield faces, all astrided bridled horses, amid flames raining down from clouds above. Both scenes from chapter 14 of Numbers. Lower half: Aaron: communicating with God -- God, nimbed, extending right hand in blessing, emerging from cloud above seven men, one wearing hat, kneeling before draped altar on which is candle and book, below canopy. (Charge of priests and Levites) From chapter 18 of Numbers. Aaron: Blossoming Rod -- Six men, two wearing hats, two raising right hands, two with joined hands raised, kneeling around altar on which are rods, one flowering. From chapter 17 of Numbers. Balaam: opposed by Angel -- Balaam, inscribed BALAAM, wearing hat, raising scourge with right hand, holding reins with left hand, seated on bridled ass (donkey), head turned looking back at Balaam. Angel standing before them raising sword with right hand. From chapter 22 of Numbers.
