1) Samuel: Birth -- With her head resting on her right arm on pillow, Hannah reclines on draped four-post bed on which sits veiled midwife showing palm of her right hand. In background, infant Samuel, nimbed, head draped, swaddled, lies in crib, beneath flaming lamp between two curtains drawn to sides.
2) Samuel: brought to Eli -- Elkanah stands beside Hannah, veiled, presenting seated child Samuel, orant, toward decorated altar behind which is Eli, nimbed, raising right hand. Scene in architectural setting (triple arcade).
