Confessio Amantis: Scene, Canace writing to Macareus -- Nude youth, son of Canace and Macareus (not present), sits in draped, canopied, draped bed on platform, next to his mother, nude, writing with right hand on scroll on her lap, stabbing herself in breast with sword (?) held in left hand. Outside of bed curtain at right stands her father Aeolus, crowned, raising right hand, holding scepter in left hand, wearing fur lined garments.
Scene in bedroom with wood ceiling, decorated wall, and tile floor.
