Christ: bearing Cross -- Christ, rays as cross nimbus, wearing long robe, carries with both hands, on left shoulder, tau cross. Man grasps upright of the cross with right hand; at right, another man, wearing hat, pulls on rope attached to waist of Christ. Virgin Mary, veiled with wimple, with joined hands, and Evangelist John are behind Christ. Large crowd of soldiers, most only tops of helmets are visible; many holding spears. Scene in landscape with hills, trees, buildings. Body hangs from tree, probably Judas (Judas: hanged). Text below miniature is beginning of Short Hours of the Cross, Sext.
