Fable: Snake and Farmer -- Man, wearing hat, raises left hand to indicate serpent, emerging from door at right, on tiled floor, beside pillow, both before fireplace with hood. Scene in room with wooden ceiling, view of landscape beyond. Miniature for Aesop’s Fable of "The Snake and the Farmer." Miniature framed by circular wreath with four ribbons and medallions, each medallion decorated with pair of wings as emblem of Louise of Savoy. Text summary in French verse is on facing page, within similar frame.
