Bust of back-turned man wearing soft hat, enclosed in initial N. Margins decorated with foliate ornament and gold balls; in the upper margin, man, possibly cleric wearing habit, holding, with both hands, scroll with pseudo-inscription, seated with feet on pillow. Pen flourished initials. Text is first lesson, first nocturn for Matins on 09.08, feast of the Birth of the Virgin.
