Evangelist, John: Scene, on Patmos -- John, nimbed, sits on ground and writes with pen held in right hand on scroll with pseudo inscription on his lap. Before him stands eagle (Evangelist Symbol), holding stylus case and inkpot, beside small inlet. Behind John are trees, and in sky, vision of the Apocalyptic Woman (Virgin Mary, nimbed, holding Christ Child, standing on crescent moon, enclosed in mandorla).
