Felix of Nola: Martyrdom -- Within classroom, Felix of Nola, nimbed, tonsured, lies on floor, eyes closed, wounded in head and breast. He is surrounded by five students striking him with various objects including club, basket, slate tablet, stylus, purse and inkpot. Two students have inkpots attached to belts. Another student, holding inkpot in left hand, standing beside open, inscribed book cast to floor, raises purse held in right hand.
Classroom is furnished with bench, in foreground, on which is inkpot, with quill, and inscribed parchment. On left wall, beside door, is rack with pegs from which hang slate tablet, purse, and inkpot. Books are placed on top of rack. On far wall, below window, is long bench with footstool on which is closed book. On right wall, basket is hung from peg.
