Miniature:
Jean Froissart: Chroniques, Book I, Chapter 227 -- Two groups of French soldiers in full armor attack each other with spears and sword. Four soldiers wear surcoats with coats of arms, including those of Charles de Blois, Bertrand de Guesclin, Brittany, and John Chandos. Standards bearing same arms are carried by soldiers of each group.
Text describes battle of Auray in April, 1364.
Initial I:
Initial, decorated, contains arms of Pierre de Fontenoy impaled with arms of Marie de Broyes.
Margins:
In left margin, standards bearing arms of Rohan, Captal de Buch, and Schoonhorst (first three remain unidentified).
In center margin, standards bearing arms of Montfort, unidentifed, Brittany.
