1) Benedict of Montecassino: Scene, raising Novice -- The foremost of four tonsured monks holds up dead novice, before Benedict, nimbed, tonsured, in abbot's habit, placing right hand on the dead novice's tonsured head and holding crozier in left hand.
Inside building from which lamp hangs, Benedict, nimbed, tonsured, in habit, prays with joined hands, kneeling partly on tonsured novice lying on ground.
Scene caption on frame, EST PUER ALLATUS INIMICI FRAUDE NECATUS. ET PATRIS ORANTIS MOX INSTAT IN AURE TONANTIS.
2) Benedict of Montecassino: Scene, raising Novice -- Benedict, nimbed, tonsured, in abbot's habit, holding crozier in left hand, extends right forefinger above revived novice raising his left hand toward group of five tonsured monks, the foremost raising hands, one with joined hands, and another raising left hand.
