Before initial I, bishop, wearing miter, holding crozier with right hand, seated, legs crossed, left foot on back of cleric, tonsured, crouching in center margin, head turned back, looking up toward the bishop. Margins decorated with foliate ornament, knots and gold balls. Pen flourished initials. Text is first lesson, first nocturn for Matins on 11.23 feast of Clement of Rome.
