Initial L, decorated with foliate ornament, enclosing half-figure of man, left arm extended left, to hem of garment worn by man wearing hat and fur collar, gesturing with right hand, standing in center margin. Margins decorated with foliate ornament, knots and gold balls. Pen flourished initials. Text is first lesson, first nocturn for Matins in Common of Confessor, Bishop.
