Christ: Crucifixion, One Cross, with Virgin Mary and Evangelist John -- Christ, cross-nimbed, head inclined, issuing water from wound in side, wears transparent loin cloth, is affixed with three nails to cross surmounted by scroll of titulus inscribed INRI (from John 19:19), flanked below by Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, with joined hands raised and Evangelist John, nimbed, wringing hands, looking up toward the Christ. Above in sky, sun and personification of moon. Figures against decorated background of scrolling foliage. Margins decorated with bezants and scrolling foliage entwined around bar border, some foliage terminating in heads of hybrid men, or heads of long-beaked fantastic animals.
