Julius Caesar: Scene, Espousal -- Right hands of Calpurnia, wearing headdress, and Julius Caesar are joined by hands of bearded high priest, wearing pointed miter, all surrounded by nine male and female figures, wearing headdresses, turban-like headgear or brimmed hats, one wearing feathered cap. Scene in grassy landscape, against gold sky. Figures painted in grisaille. Decorated with ivy-rinceaux and floreate ornament in border above and below center margin, including daisies and strawberries, miniature within gold frame. Initial I of Iulius decorated with foliate and floreate ornament. Miniature for Chapter 879 of Faits de Romains.
