Virgin Mary: Annunciation -- Archangel Gabriel, crowned, wearing mantle fastened with morse, with left hand holding scepter and with right hand raised toward Virgin Mary, nimbed, arms crossed on breast, kneeling on pillow before draped prie-dieu on which is open book with pseudo-inscriptions and lily, dove of Holy Ghost, emitting rays, descending in orb above her, before three hovering angels; she is beneath architectural canopy in interior room with tiled floors. Margins of three-quarter border of strewn flowers, including borage, wild roses, and pea, strawberry, and inhabited by two moths. Miniature facing the beginning of Matins in Hours of the Virgin.
